The sun is shining. The birds are outside our windows. Judah watching Ice Age. I am sitting on davenport with a heating pad on my back, drinking coffee and eventually doing devotions - Jesus Calling book is good stuff. Ahhhhh life is good. So good that I am gonna write about it.
Last night Judah decided he was going to cry a lot for no reason and point to the living room to go out there. We are family bedders so all night either Emma or Laish was yelling for him to stop crying. Along with my frustrated demands to "No cry, Judah, or Mommy spank." I never did spank him really. There was a lot of wrestling him down to keep him in bed. Whoever invented the crib forgot the top - oh that's a cage. Whatever. I can't use one bc it doesn't have a top.
I was dead to the world this morning. I heard alarm go off at 7am which isn't that freakin early. Next thing I knew I woke up with a start - the kids missed the bus. It's 8am. But where are the kids? Then I started to vaguely remember some things. Like Laish saying it's time to get up. Me not getting up. Obviously they got themselves up and ready and off. I am the worst mom ever. Sorry kids. There was a mess of waffles out on the counter. Laish left me the sweetest note telling me he is sorry he wasted waffles (he tends to take too much food). Sometimes I realize I got good kids.
I found Judah eating Tic Tac's for breakfast.
Emma has been allowed to create an Instagram account. On her Dad's phone. I gave her the whole speech about your identity is not how many followers you have. Don't post things you wouldn't want your parents to see. We are going to check your account. Blah blah. She was like, uh, yah, I know the rules already Mom. Kara explained them to me. So I guess whatever my sister told Kara is what she takes as Gospel. Fine. I will start telling Shelly what to tell Kara, to tell Emma.
We had Berta and Scott's 2 younger kids (Chara and Justus) for 2 1/2 days last week while they went down to Kokomo, IN to help with Revive Indiana. It was such a precious time. One time when Chara was talking to her mom on the phone, I heard her say, "No, I not listening to Aunt Nita." Chara slept with Emma each night. JJ looks up to Laish so much. Laish did an incredible job playing with him and really enjoying it too.
Sometimes I find Judah laying on his tummy behind doors, sucking on the door stopper thing. It's disgusting and weird. As is the fact that he likes Dora probably a little more than Diego.
So soon after I finally got Judah to quit nursing, he would lay on my chest to rock at night and stick his hands down my shirt. It was cute at first. Now he does it constantly. Anytime he is near my bosom he's doing this. Which is like all the time. I hate it now. It's weird and embarrassing. One time after church, a lady came up to me and said, Ohhh my kids used to do that to me too. I was like, what? She says, his hands down your shirt. Ugh. I live at home and don't realize how much of my boobs are exposed when he does this. Sometimes I forget he's doing it. Kind of like when Laish used to pick my mole. I just want my body back. Nobody touch me. My space.
So funny story: Mom and Dad are in New York doing who knows what. She texted me, Shelly and Reggie to see if one of us could deliver a baby shower gift to our cousin. Shelly usually has to do these things bc she lives next to mom (despite the fact that Reggie lives underneath Mom and Dad). But she texted that she couldn't. So I just figured I would have to because, well, Reggie won't do this. So I go get it. Drive away and Reggie calls me. Apparently he thought HE was going to have to be the one to take it and had just come upstairs to get the gift. I said, well why would you think you would have to? He said, well, bc it was raining and he figured I was too depressed to get out of bed today. Despite what you may think, this doesn't hurt my feelings. I laughed. Which did help the depression I WAS feeling that day big time. But then I informed him that someone forgot to inform that particular sickness that some of us are still Mom's and don't really have a choice about getting up in the morning. Rain or no rain. Well I guess except for today.
Here are some of the words Judah says, "baby, Mom, Dad, pee pee (yes I will teach him proper terminology ondn his parts but it's just so cute when he says it), pop pop, die, baaaaaa, work, quack quack, boom, stop, shoes, help, please, and probably some others I can't remember. Every animal sound is baaaa. He loves loves sheep. There is this farm that has them on the way to mom's and so we have to pull over every time and yell "baaaaa" to them. Oddly there is one little black sheep. Why is that?
Bodie has officially been trained in mowing the lawn. Well, he wasn't really trained. Aaron let him loose one day and then left. I looked out and noticed he was turning around in the neighbors yard w/o lifting the mower part. I ran out and told him. The great thing about Laish is he is very teachable. He asks lots of questions. Whereas Emma says "I know" even when she doesn't. Then one day Aaron left again (why does he do that?) and we had just bought like 10 bags of sandbox sand. Laish went by it and blew all the cut grass into the sandbox. Sigh. I was crazy mad - not at him, just the situation and what seemed to be wasted money. Aaron came home and was like, that's okay. ?????? That's why we are married - bc we are so different. Last night Aaron and Bodie were snapping each other with wet dish towels and Laish fell on Judah's chest with his knee. I was hyperventilating bc it sounded like Judah couldn't breathe, I thought his chest was broken in half, or busted a lung, or just something more horrible. I was freaking out. Bodie of course was too. Like he gets hysterical. Aaron calmly took Laish in the other room so he could freak out and then came back to me and told me that I needed to try to help Judah calm down so we can see if he is really hurt. Emma just kept on looking at her Instagram account. It probably would've been better if me and Bodie knocked each other out. Do you know that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you think one of your kids is hurt really really bad? Ugh. New subject.
Laish started soccer. No I am not coaching this year. He's always been a fast little stud. Emma started softball. She had to miss 2 practices because she was puking. I hate the constant driving kids around but they get bored easily so I am grateful that they have something so great as sports to keep them busy.
Judah's favorite toy is a salad spinner. He loves to help make green smoothies and drinks them through a straw. He wants to be outside all the time. He loves to watch the birds. Aaron has like 50 bird feeders around the outside of the house. Sometimes I find him places he should never be - climbing the rack in our kitchen, on top of tables and counters, on Emma's bed with hands in fish tank, playing in toilets. Many things have been found in toilets-tooth brush, shoes, DVD's, toys.
I am almost done reading a series of books by Mel Odom. It's a Left Behind series but through the eyes of the military. It's sooooo good. We are having alot of end times discussions with Revive going on and Emma in her sunday school and now reading these books. I love thinking about Jesus coming back but I hate thinking about the 7 years of Tribulation after that. Kyle Martin who runs it says he firmly believes he will see God return in his lifetime. My mom has always said that. =)
